Community Programs
Community doesn't happen by accident—it happens because people choose to give their time, encourage others and create opportunities for every generation.
These programs are just some of the ways the Kilcoy Show gives back throughout the year.
Community Programs
At the Kilcoy Show, we believe our role extends far beyond the two days of our annual Show. As a proud community organisation, we are committed to fostering leadership, encouraging youth participation, supporting local traditions and creating meaningful connections across generations.
Our Community Programs celebrate the people who make the Kilcoy Show so special—from inspiring young ambassadors and future agricultural leaders to dedicated volunteers and community members who generously give their time to ensure everyone feels welcome.
These programs reflect the values that have shaped the Kilcoy Show for generations: community, service, education and opportunity. We invite you to learn more about the people and initiatives that help make our Show one of the Somerset Region's most cherished annual events.
Grants and Assistance
$2,000 Community Grant
“Thank you, Somerset Regional Council, for backing our community and helping us deliver another fantastic Kilcoy Show!”
— Kilcoy Show Committee
The Kilcoy Show Society is incredibly grateful to Somerset Regional Council for their generous $2,000 Community Grant.
This valued support will go directly towards the running costs of the 2026 Kilcoy Show, helping us ensure that our much-loved family events remain FREE for everyone to enjoy.
Community support like this makes a real difference—bringing people together, supporting local traditions, and keeping our Show accessible for all.
Show Schedule
“Quite simply the printed versions would not exist without the amazing support of our local Federal MP - Shayne Neumann”
— Kilcoy Show Committee
Our printed Show Schedules are an integral part of our Show operations and also history. Each year it allows our community to plan the Sections they might wish to enter, plus it allows us to highlight some of the amazing entertainment and attractions and also promote and thank our generous sponsors. Without whom there would be no Kilcoy Show.
In 2025 we distributed a record 700 printed Schedules out into the community. This year will be repeating that effort.
Compiling the Schedule is a huge undertaking, and quite simply the printed versions would not exist without the amazing support of our local Federal MP - Shayne Neumann. His office prints the schedule and collates it for us into the booklet form you all have come to know and love.
Showgirl & Rural Ambassadors
The Kilcoy Show's Showgirl and Rural Ambassador competitions are a wonderful opportunity to build confidence, develop leadership skills, make lifelong connections, and proudly represent our local community. These programs celebrate the people who contribute to rural and regional life while providing valuable personal and professional development opportunities. Whether you're looking to challenge yourself, grow your skills, or become more involved in the community, we encourage you to consider being part of this rewarding experience.

Golden Girls
One of the most heartwarming traditions of the Kilcoy Show is our annual Golden Girls Morning Tea, a special event that celebrates friendship, inclusion and community.
Each year, residents and participants from Aloaka Lodge Aged Care Centre, Anglicare Day Respite Centre and Able Retreats are warmly welcomed to the Kilcoy Showgrounds for a beautifully hosted morning tea before enjoying a leisurely visit through the Pavilion and other attractions with friends, carers and volunteers.
In 2026, our Golden Girls—Suzi Gower, Pamelita Owens and Lesley Warren—have generously taken on the role of coordinating this much-loved tradition. From beautifully decorated tables and floral arrangements to entertainment and warm hospitality, they help create a memorable experience for our guests.
The Kilcoy Show Society also extends its sincere appreciation to Sue Bidgood and her dedicated catering team for once again preparing and serving the morning tea. Their generosity and ongoing support have become an important part of this cherished annual tradition.
The Golden Girls are passionate members of our local community, generously giving their time not only to the Kilcoy Show but also through their involvement with the Kilcoy Hospital Auxiliary and many other community initiatives.
Their kindness, compassion and commitment perfectly reflect the spirit of the Kilcoy Show—bringing people together, celebrating community and ensuring everyone feels welcome.
A Cherished Tradition.
For many years, the Kilcoy Show Society has proudly welcomed residents from local aged care and respite services to a special Friday morning tea, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to experience the warmth and community spirit of the Kilcoy Show.

Young People in Agriculture
Inspiring the Next Generation
The future of agriculture depends on the passion, knowledge and enthusiasm of young people. At the Kilcoy Show, we're proud to provide opportunities for children and young adults to develop practical skills, build confidence and celebrate the traditions that have shaped our rural communities for generations.
From the excitement of the Young Farmers Challenge to Junior Judging and Young Paraders, these programs encourage teamwork, sportsmanship and hands-on learning while creating lasting friendships and a genuine connection to agriculture.
Whether they're stepping into the ring for the first time, testing their skills in friendly competition or discovering a lifelong passion for the agricultural industry, these young participants represent the future of our Show and our community.
We invite families to come along, cheer them on and celebrate the remarkable achievements of our next generation of agricultural leaders.
It Takes a Village
Community is at the Heart of Everything We Do
The Kilcoy Show is much more than a two-day event—it's the result of months of planning, countless volunteer hours and the generosity of people who care deeply about our community.
Every year, our dedicated committee, volunteers, stewards, judges, exhibitors, sponsors and local organisations come together with one shared goal: to create an event that celebrates agriculture, strengthens community connections and brings people of all ages together.
From preparing the grounds and coordinating competitions to welcoming visitors, supporting exhibitors and creating memorable experiences, every contribution—big or small—helps make the Kilcoy Show possible.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who gives their time, skills and support. Your commitment ensures that this proud local tradition continues to thrive for future generations.
Because at the Kilcoy Show, it truly does take a village.
